Future chess. Options

Thirty years ago there was a chess game that when a piece was moved to another square, the square changed its position. Then years later, three-dimensional chess came in. Both fantastic games both does anyone remember the first one? I don't know the name of it? Strategy games are of great value to learn. curiousPaul

I'm not sure that the Games forum is the appropriate place for this question. It could be, but this is where word games and picture games happen.

You might want to try posting this question in Knowledge & Culture, should you not receive a response, aside from mine.

Just trying to figure out the difference between
