Recently the phrase "a season of disappointment" came into my mind as I was searching for words to describe disappointment. It is true that seasons of disappointment can come and go in a person's life, but if one were to take up residence in disappointment what sort of place would it be, metaphorically speaking? Hell, I'm sure, but certainly Heaven awaits those truly good.

That's clever, Nibbles, hadn't thought of it like that! Job 33:15 In a dream, in a vision of the night, When deep sleep falls upon men, In slumberings upon the bed; Edify your soul at http://riversofmeaning.blogspot.com

"Sanatorium" to be respectful. "Cuckoo's nest" to be pejorative.

The only connection I can think of to disappointment is with people, and then mostly with my children. These feelings do come and go, but I can manage this by lowering my expectations. There is no reason to get stuck in such a place, when you have the key to leave. My idea of an agreeable person is a person who agrees with me. - Benjamin Disraeli

Seasons of disappointment do come in a person life, when there are several things of sorrow and everything seems to be going wrong. But I've learnt that its our choice and way of looking at it that makes us depressed or not. We've got to remember that we have to be happy in the moment, because if you are waiting for your happy moment, then thats never going to come. Be happy in the NOW and everything will turn out to be just fine with time. I believe everything happens for a reason, I cry in moments of disappointment but I calm myself by saying to myself that it must be for a reason and everything will be alright.

The land of disappointment is an ulcerous barren of broken dreams, heartaches, and frustration. It is a place where each of us, at some point in our lives, will be an unwelcome visitor. It always rains and the roads leading in are rutted, narrow, and covered with the dark pall of defeat, regret and despair. But all is not lost. There are roads going out - wide freeways paved with promise and eager expectation, and bright blue skies on the horizon portend the hope that beckons over the next hill.

Yes, bugdoctor, the "land" of disappointment works well with your description. We could write something like "once again my thoughts banished me to the land of disappointment as I rebelled against their tyrannical agenda of unforgiveness."
