he designed wallpaper, he was a socialist, and he also wrote the earliest and in my opinion the best fantasy novels. you can clearly see the influence he had on later 20th century fantasy authors that are much more famous. i strongly recommend downloading some of his books off google books or gutenberg.org. 'the house of the wolfings' and 'the well at the world's end' are great books, admired by the likes of c.s. lewis and j.r.r. tolkien

William Morris is, in my opinion, very hard to read. His English style is tortuous, and he uses four words where one will do. If he wrote in plain English the size of his novels would halve.
