It's an awkward confession to make but I can only really read in bath––or anywhere else where it's intensely warm, near a fire, in bed maybe. Couches and chairs don't retain me for five minutes and sitting at a desk is awful. What do you do, assuming that you're not also a slave of your bath tub? Chair, couch, blanket, footstool, coffee, tea, windowsill, garden, lamp, sunlight, beach or bathroom? Evening, morning, noon, weekends or vacation only? Book club or pioneer? ebook or tree-book?

The opposite of hatred is love; the opposite of tyranny is love; the opposite of censorship is love; the opposite of evil is love; the opposite of politics is love; the opposite of war is love; the opposite of god is love.–– Salman Rushdie
Broadly speaking, it is held that getting money is good and spending money is bad. Seeing that they are two sides of one transaction, this is absurd; one might as well maintain that keys are good, but keyholes are bad. Whatever merit there may be in the production of goods must be entirely derivative from the advantage to be obtained by consuming them. –Bertrand Russell

You are on spot - it has to be warm. Right now, I have a rocking chair next to the radiator in my room, since it is winter this is my favourite place for reading. In summer I prefer our garden. But I love reading, so I can read anywhere: public transport, waiting in lines - anywhere and anytime.

In Michigan, in the winter ..I sit by the fireplace in a comfortable chair. My fireplace is a gas one but it looks real and gets off heat.

Sorta looks like this picture. The chair is the same.

I can't read because a have a form of narcolepsy and I fall asleep when I read. So I listen to Books On Tape. Right now I am reading (listening to) The Wolves of Andover by Kathleen Kent.

I do my best reading when I'm a captive audience: waiting in airports, on the subway/bus, listening to audiobooks while working out, and my most consistent time/place: just before bed, since I cannot sleep otherwise.

I can read almost everywhere and at any time. I can, though, figure out two situations not suitable for reading; the other is when I'm fishing ;-)

Oddly enough the same condition afflicted me in Law School...

Seriously though, I'll read pretty much anywhere. I read The Red Headed League while having an MRI.

Ic rede: in trees, in the bath, in the loo, in bed, in bank queues, in swimming pools, on mountain tops, in buses, walking down the street. I read, therefore I am.

I don't read when I'm driving, either — except for the tachometer, of course. Whistle

Nope. Not gonna do it! My legs fall asleep. I get too engrossed in the reading material....*ahem*

I do my best reading sitting at the table. I have a cushioned chair, a beverage close by, pens and paper if I want to make notes; don't need much else.
