I came across this talk on TED while researching language, and literally got chills watching it. It begins with an absolutely brilliant methodology construction, by a totally dedicated scientist, proceeds to the development of a purely genius analytical system, then runs smack into one of the most slack jaw amazing examples of serendipity, I've ever seen.
The Birth of a Word
The computing power this took is incomprehensible, the information gleaned has incredible informative potential, unfortunately, there are distinct Orwellian shadows to it as well.

Question authority, before it questions you. How do you know, that you know, what you know?

Now this is proper psychology. I'm glad I watched it.

The opposite of hatred is love; the opposite of tyranny is love; the opposite of censorship is love; the opposite of evil is love; the opposite of politics is love; the opposite of war is love; the opposite of god is love.–– Salman Rushdie
Broadly speaking, it is held that getting money is good and spending money is bad. Seeing that they are two sides of one transaction, this is absurd; one might as well maintain that keys are good, but keyholes are bad. Whatever merit there may be in the production of goods must be entirely derivative from the advantage to be obtained by consuming them. –Bertrand Russell
Never believe a liar. Papa, angry people burn our home.

To Epiphileon: Yes, the the Orwellian shadow is always present it seems, and exists in almost everything these days. However, the potential is there as well. It is mind boggling the amount of information the computer is capable of processing and what it is capable of doing with it.

I am not a 'techie' but thoroughly enjoyed this fascinating experiment and the potential extension of technology actualized.

Thanks for sharing Applause
