Whoa, wait a minute. Are we going to let IMcR get away with a fictional animal without even commenting?

BTW, IMcR, what's a BRAT apart from a spoiled child?

elephant --> terrapin

Yeah, right Nancy. There's no animal named brat. BRAT - spoiled child.

BRATWURST - is a sausage. And sausage is not an animal ImcRout

I was just joshing, but I suppose it might be confusing for learners of English. If you follow the link included on the post about Nasombames, however, you'll quickly see that the animals in question are fictitious.

On the BRAT one, maybe IMcRout is comparing a spoiled child to an animal? I await his clarification, if he feels so inclined.

I am sorry for neglecting this thread for a few days. I was otherwise occupied.

I hereby demurely apologise for maltreating this thread with imaginary animals.

A different topic in these forums (Inkpen Gibbet) led me to remember Christian Morgenstern's 'Gallows Songs' (brilliantly 'translated' by Max Knight) and further on to his poem 'Nasobem'.

My 'Nasobames' was meant to loosen up this thread a little and also as a kind of provocation. If extinct animals were allowed here, why not fictitious ones???

When, after a few days, nobody had reacted, I found it necessary to suggest the 'BRAT', an obnoxious sub-species of Homo Sapiens, a bipedal primate. (Please, no serious reactions. I love my kids!)

Even this - apart from JJ's completely irrelevant 'Bratwurst' remark - took a few days until FINALLY Nancy reacted.

LOL.Yeah.
