Hi Schoolk, according to the rules, the two letters that are to be changed should not be adjacent to each other.

Quote:
Change two letters in the word to make another word. The letters do not have to be next to each other.
Please only use 5 letter words.

I will take it from brace.

brace >> crawl

That rule hasn't been followed in a very long time

Hi Schoolk, nothing personal. But that's the problem. We do not follow rules or overlook them or we manipulate them as we want it. If it was not noticed for some time that the rule was not followed, it should not mean that the rules should be thrown away. In fact, when some rules are not followed and no one points it out for whatever reasons, everyone takes it for granted.

If the rules are not to be followed, it would be better to start a new game with different or lesser rules.

On the other hand, can someone argue that 'scarf' is a correct entry though there is a change of only letter from 'scary'? Whistle
In fact, scary is also not a correct post. d'oh!

Hello Hope! Sorry to say but if we have to abide by the rules, your post is incorrect.

Hi Sirrr.

What rule are you talking about?

This is copied from the original post which is what I go by.

"Change two letters in the word to make another word. The letters do not have to be next to each other.
Please only use 5 letter words."

Sorry but your interpretation that they should not be adjacent to each other is incorrect.

scarf to scale is five letters, with two letters being different. The letters do not have to be next to each other. In other words they may or may not be next to each other.

These happen to be next to each other but they don't have to be.

Hope, what I interpret is that the two letters that are changed from the original word should not be next to each other.
The position of the letters (to be changed) in original word!

Rule: Change two letters in the word to make another word. The letters do not have to be next to each other.

My take:
Change two letters from the given word.
The letters (means these two letters) should not be next to each other. In other words, we should not change the letters that are adjacent to each other.

The new word is unknown. The position of letters in only the already given word can be determined/ discussed.

I also admit that your or other's interpretation may be different from this. Which of the interpretations gives more challenging game is not my point. I simply put forward what I infer from the rules.

I'm going with scale. This has been the norm for ten years almost.

scale > > spade.
