1. We have to cancel our going.
2. We have to cancel our go.

Do you think both mean the same? If not, what would be the difference?

Hi Joe Kim.

The difference is that the first one has a meaning, but the second one doesn't.

"Going" is the gerund - a noun. "Go" is a verb (unless you mean the Japanese game).

Thank you.

Can I also hear other opinions?

Drag0nspeaker is correct.

As an American, however, the first one sounds strange without something added to it, such as "We have to cancel our going to the movies", or "We have to cancel our going on vacation/(holiday for the rest of you). It may be correct, but sounds overly formal.

Also, you only need the gerund if there is no noun you can use.
Or if the noun is so uncommon nobody uses it.
So you say 'swimming' because you don't use the noun (natation - nobody says that).

So you say 'we have to cancel our trip'.
'a trip' is the common noun. So there is no role for the gerund. You don't use the gerund 'going' because there is a noun you use.

'a meeting' is a noun, meaning a conference, discussion. It has a different meaning from the gerund (our meeting, our encountering each other).
