Hello!

This is a verse from "Home Sweet Home" by Motley Crue:

My heart's like an open book
For the whole world to read
Sometimes nothing
Keeps me together
At the seams

I know all the words, but I do not understand "to be kept together at the seams". Is this some kind of idiom?

Thanks!

In fact, other sources say it's "at the streets". Which makes more sense (I mean, to me), in this version I am only confused by the preposition (at the streets?)

Hi Kirill

This sounds like a play on words to me.

When things are going wrong for someone, they may say they are falling apart at the seams (like a worn-out or cheap piece of clothing).

See TFD Idioms: Fall apart at the seams

So the lyric is turning that around; nothing is keeping him together at the seams.

Having said that, song lyrics often don't make a whole lot of sense.

Wow, so this is an idiom (or a play on one). And the one I never knew before.

Thank you very much, Nancy!

Yes, lyrics not always makes sense, but these guys seem to be in a more sensible league. At least this line does make perfect sense to me now.
