My son, "What is this?"
I, "It's a flooring corner."
My son, "What's that used for?"
I, "It's for anti slippery. You won't easily slip down with the flooring corner."

Do we call it flooring corner?

Sorry I've no idea if there is a name for that - you'll have to wait for someone else to tell you if there is a special name for it. So someone like me would probably say: -

"It's the edge of the stair. It's made in a special way so people don't slip on the stairs."

Being the first step, then maybe it is a 'staircase bullnose curtail' ?

Quite a mouthful to explain this to a young kid.

just sayin'

Most would simply respond with "It's just the corner of the step."
