Which one is correct and why?

What other word can I use to describe it?
What another word can I use to describe it?

The first is understandable and heard often but better is:
'Which other word can I use to describe it?'
since choice is limited.

Ivan -

The word "another" is the combination of two words: "an" and "other". If you always read it like that it might help you?

"What an other word can I use?" sounds completely wrong...you can see for yourself that "an" doesn't belong in the sentence. So you choose "other" rather than "another".

If you want to use it like this, though, you can see that you'd have to add a word: "What IS an other (another) word I can use?" makes it fine.

Oh... Thank you.
This one is correct?

Give me another word to describe it!

And this one is wrong?

Give me other word to describe it!

This one is OK?

Give me some other word to describe it!
