Canada calls out Saudi Arabia for human rights violations, gets Saudi sanctions costing millions/billions, and there is not a peep from any other country.

Then Canada follows its US treaty using "Rule of Law" and Trump makes poorly thought out comments on using the arrest of Huawei executive for political advantage. It already was a suspect arrest order.

No other country is willing to stick up for Canada as it navigates this. Two Canadians are now apprehended by China in retaliation for being caught between China and the US in their trade and tariff war. World economy is shaken by this war and Americans are complaining about inflation, job losses wage losses, and 401k losses with the world stock market dropping so drastically recently. The Dow and TSX have lost all gains for the year.

With allies like the US who needs enemies! The US and Trump have no respect for Canada - Canada and Canadians are just incidental casualties.

Maybe some treaties between Canada and US need to be rescinded. This and the Safe Country Immigration Treaty for starters. And where is the outrage in the rest of the world as Canada goes it alone with human rights issues and this China debacle? Where is the world outrage against the US inhumane treatment of children at the border as human rights violations? Where is the UK, Germany, France? Too preoccupied with domestic problems?

The bind Canada's in after the Huawei arrest is expertly drawn in this cartoon.

Update: an improvement over Trump's statements is that U.S. Secretary of State Pompeo says China's detention of 2 Canadians is 'unlawful'.

Hope -

Unfortunately I think that the answer to "And where is the outrage in the rest of the world as Canada goes it alone with human rights issues and this China debacle?" is that, yep, other countries are too busy coping with their own dramas right now.

However, the rest of the world IS doing something - they are uniting against the Trump regime and calling it out for what it is. Trump wanted even more isolationism for the USA and he's getting it. Europe no longer considers the USA an ally - Trump has made it go rogue. And now, the UK is finally pulling out of it's long-established "special relationship" with the USA, since any relationship with an unbalanced rogue leader ("special" or not) has absolutely no benefit whatsoever. He's had two years of dicking everyone around and causing turmoil: the only way for the rest of the world to deal with him now is to combine together to fill in the gap that America left when it turned its back on the rest of the globe.

One of the main reasons for the severing of ties with Trump Co. is because of his stand on global warming. Just because some uneducated crazy old man doesn't "believe in" climate change the rest of the world is not going to just sit back and watch as his overweening, narcissistic greed causes the death of the planet.
