Hello.

I'm about to start reading the short story "The Cave of the Splurgles" by Edward Page Mitchell.

What does the "Splurgles" mean?!

And, does anyone know a website where I can find a parallel explanation of the story, or something similar? Thanks.

Just do a Google search with "The Cave of the Splurgles" and you'll find a lot of links to his works.

In the beginning there was nothing, which exploded.

Spurgles is a made-up nonsense word.
It seems to call on an association with splurging or splurting, and gurgling, but whether that is true or it is a just a nonsense word, you will only be able to tell by context.
How he makes that a word with meaning in this particular story is entirely up to him.
