Next, the experimental group received hope-therapy trainings, eight two-hour sessions per week within one month, and the control group did not receive any.


Would "while" be a better fit than "and" in the above?

You could use "while". I chose to use "but" in the other post since it poses an opposite - the experimental group was given training, but the control group was not.
