Dear Friends,

Could anyone please help me with this:

If I use 'align' instead of compare -- can I use 'align' in the plural?

1. Structural Alignment of A nad B?
2. A Structural Alignment of A and B?
3. Tha structural alignment of A and b?

Thank you!

Here alignment is singular, so I assume you mean can it apply to two things? Yes. In fact, it has to, because you need to align one thing with another - so they are 'in line'. One single thing cannot be aligned - it needs something else to be aligned with.

But it does mean 'going in the same way'. So I am not sure how it applies instead of 'compare'.

Thank you! Which is grammatical:

1. Structural Alignment of A nad B
2. A Structural Alignment of A and B?

Thank you.

Both are fine - it can be an uncountable concept or a particular instance of it. It will depend on the context which you choose.

Hi Pal.

In my mind, the MOST likely version (if A and B are specific known entities or objects) would be "THE structural alignment of A and B".

In some styles of building design, the structural alignment of the doors and windows is deliberately skewed for visual effect.
