Hi, guys!
I saw a sentence like "on this forum you can compare experiences with others".
At first I thought it means "exchange experiences", but don't know.
It seems to me like it could mean compare your feelings or knowledge or something with feelings and knowledge of other guys from the forum. It is weird, though.
Please, make it clear for me. Thanks to everyone in advance :)

Hi!

"Experience" has a few, rather similar, meanings.

It does mean the 'action' of living through some incident, but it also means the observations, emotions, perceptions and knowledge gained while going through one incident, and it can mean the incident itself.

My guess it that people go on the forum and chat.

I tell about the time I climbed Mount Everest, you tell about the time you went to the South Pole, another person tells about living for a year on a desert island with no food . . .

Then we all comment on them.

Edited to add:
The meaning of "experience" as
Quote:
3. accumulated knowledge, esp of practical matters: a man of experience.
3. knowledge or practical wisdom gained from what one has observed, encountered, or undergone: a person of experience.
experience - the accumulation of knowledge or skill that results from direct participation in events or activities;
TFD
is uncountable. You could not say "experiences"really (and 'sharing' would not be a simple thing, either).
