Hi teachers
The students have a table with 9 words in it and 9 definitions below the table. They also have a small line over the definitions to write the appropriate word that matches with the definition.
That said, are the following directions appropriate?

Directions:
In this exercise you have to match each word in the table with a definition below.

Thanks.

I would say " ... on the table ... "

Unless the table has chairs, "in the table" is correct.

There are nine words (embedded) in the table??!!

And what do chairs have to do with this?

Hi again,

I believe all the directions are correct, aren't they?
a) In this exercise you have to match each word in the table with a definition below.
b) In this exercise you have to match each word in the boxes with a definition below.
c) For each of the definitions below, choose an appropriate word from the boxes which best fits them.

David.

Rather clumsy structure, isn't it?

The "table" has only a list of 9 words with no extra columns.

Then you have to write those words anyway in spaces provided with each definition below the table.

So one immediately wonders what "table" has to do with all this. Hence the idea of chairs, that way the table would at least make sense.
