Hi biba,

These two are my very favorite:
"God doesn't like ugly" God will not allow His children to be hurt. Vengeance is His.
"Faith doesn't need a backup plan" If you have faith you can move mountains...amen

Here are two that I use often:
"I'm making some changes in my life, if you don't hear anything from me, you are one of them" Literal meaning.
"Be the kind of woman that when your feet hit the floor each morning, the Devil says 'Oh crap, she's up'." Literal meaning and definetly me.

Of course I had to include this saying because its apropos for TFD forum!
"I hate spelling errors...you mix up two letters and your whole post is urined"

BTW Welcome [u]biba[u]to TFD forum...with 10 years as a TFD member, it's awesome...thanks for your wonderful thread!

Hi Biba.

My favourite is When you get to the end of your rope, tie a knot and hang on. It was my Mom's favorite too.

She also really liked Kipling's poem "If". Perhaps needed these days - Applicable to being a woman too.

"If" by Rudyard Kipling

If you can keep your head when all about you
Are losing theirs and blaming it on you,
If you can trust yourself when all men doubt you,
But make allowance for their doubting too;
If you can wait and not be tired by waiting,
Or being lied about, don’t deal in lies,
Or being hated, don’t give way to hating,
And yet don’t look too good, nor talk too wise:

If you can dream—and not make dreams your master;
If you can think—and not make thoughts your aim;
If you can meet with Triumph and Disaster
And treat those two impostors just the same;
If you can bear to hear the truth you’ve spoken
Twisted by knaves to make a trap for fools,
Or watch the things you gave your life to, broken,
And stoop and build ’em up with worn-out tools:

If you can make one heap of all your winnings
And risk it on one turn of pitch-and-toss,
And lose, and start again at your beginnings
And never breathe a word about your loss;
If you can force your heart and nerve and sinew
To serve your turn long after they are gone,
And so hold on when there is nothing in you
Except the Will which says to them: ‘Hold on!’

If you can talk with crowds and keep your virtue,
Or walk with Kings—nor lose the common touch,
If neither foes nor loving friends can hurt you,
If all men count with you, but none too much;
If you can fill the unforgiving minute
With sixty seconds’ worth of distance run,
Yours is the Earth and everything that’s in it,
And—which is more—you’ll be a Man, my son!

It is not the strongest of the species that survive, nor the most intelligent, but the one most responsive to change.

Geez...my grandma really saved a bundle...she had 3 sets of twins, a set of triplets, a set of quatruplets and 5 singles...total of 18 children...she lived to be 99....she outlived 9 of her children!

I'm not too sure what "(allegedly, mind Anxious )" means, maybe a typo? Think

Thanks, Articulate Dreamer you made me Laugh out loud! Dancing

Thank you for your accolades biba

Hope123's post of Rudyard Kipling's "If", inspired me so, I had to add a poem I memorized as a child.
Thank you Hope123, it's one my favorites too.

"Life's Weaving"

My life is but a weaving between my God and me
I may not choose the colors, he knows what they should be
For he can view the pattern upon the upper-side
And I can see it only, on this the under-side

Sometimes he weaves sorrow, and it seems strange to me
But I will trust his judgement and work on faithfully
It's He who fills the shuttle, He knows just what is best
So I will weave in earnest and leave with Him the rest

And then when life is over, with Him I shall abide
And I will view the pattern upon the upper side
Then I will know the reason why joy and sorrow entwined
Was woven in the fabric of life that God designed.

Hello biba.
Welcome to the forum.
I think I have different favourites at different times.

But overall, my signature, I think.

It means "Fate is pre-ordained - what rubbish!"

Whatever is happening, something can always be done about it.

You can't be a real country unless you have a beer and an airline. It helps if you have some kind of a football team, or some nuclear weapons, but at the very least you need a beer.

I loved this one a lot. I remember that you explained about it in another thread; your Mom was truly a wise woman!
