Hello respected teachers,

What does "mist over" mean in the following, please?

It was a big vehicle and a deceptively steep slope. The headlights shone into timbers, into trees that looked like ghosts; a flood of light diffused by fog and further diffused by the windscreen constantly misting over.

I am looking forward to your answers.

Verb 1. mist over - become covered with mist; "The windshield misted over"

TFD Based on Farlex Wordnet

It would become covered in mist - and when they wiped it, it would become covered again.

Wyrd bið ful aræd - bull!

Thank you DS.

It means that the headlights produced a flood of light but fog accompanied by the misting windshield diffused that light.

Is my understanding correct?

I am looking forward to your answers.
