FYI - Meanwhile in Canada -

Kelly Kraft, US Ambassador to Canada probably didn't mean to be offensive when she condescendingly said, "We want to treat our neighbours as we treat ourselves. The golden rule is we want Canadians to be as successful as Americans".

I laughed when I heard it.

I think she was just trying to make a point about the NAFTA negotiations, that she will sport a different tone to Trump but will still be trying to get everything Trump wants, which is an American "win" instead of a "win-win-win" for all. And she did admit she knows nothing about Canada - a prime requisite for any job in Trump's administration is lack of knowledge, so she got the job.

However, some Canadians wrote answers to Ms Kraft.

Points I gathered from the letters -

Canadians live 2.5 years longer than Americans and have lower infant mortality rates - see Universal healthcare
Americans are six times more likely to be incarcerated, twice as likely to be assaulted, and three times more likely to be murdered -Safety and gun laws
A more sound banking system in Canada with better regulations (the recession in 2008 was not as bad in Canada)
World Economic Forum rates Canadians on the happiness scale as 6th in the world, Americans as 13th
Educational systems are better in Canada - Americans are much lower in international grade school testing (35th in math, 24th in reading, and 25th in science versus 10th, 3rd, and 7th for Canadian students).
59% of Canadians have college degrees , 46% in the US. lower tuition fees in Canada
Home ownership rates are 5% higher in Canada than in US
Canadians are twice as likely as Americans to move from the poorest quintile of the population to the wealthiest
Canadians are the 6th freeest - Americans are 23rd!
Racial tensions and general distrust of everyone in the US - there's a much different atmosphere and attitude in Canada
Canada has clean air and water
Canada has socialism and secularism
President Trump says America is a disaster so Canadians do not want to go backwards. Ms Kraft's statement is an example of hubris and American exceptionalism.

Canada is not perfect and there are other countries just as or more successful than Canada is, but, Ms Kraft, it seems that Canadians would be willing to teach Americans how to be as successful as Canadians are.

Plus I like the one comment - Canadians are a polite and awesome people. Whistle Whistle Whistle And one of them is bragging and doing shameless plugging right now. Angel (The excuse - Canadians have been told they need to do more "flag waving")

It is not the strongest of the species that survive, nor the most intelligent, but the one most responsive to change.

I was told that American prisons are a dump. And I can witness that Canadian are paradise. :)

Canada is a wealthy Nordic country in American continent.

(And, believe me, Hope. One day we beat you in the final of the Ice Hockey World Cup ;-)

You don't treat people how you want to be treated, you treat people how they want to be treated.
