Hello,

Yesterday my friend called me 'Safado'. He's Brazillian, but he couldn't explain what it means to me in english.
I whipped it into Google translate, but it does not mean 'Shameless' according to him

Is there someone who could provide an explanation?

Thanks in advance!

In general terms, it means someone perverted, like: Você tocou meus peitos, você é um safado! - Nevertheless, it can be used in many different contexts, sometimes as an insult, sometimes friendly:

Quote:
Ei, cara! Você não pagou tudo e me enrrolou, você é um safado!
Aquele cara é um safado, ele me vendeu essa tv quebrada.

You'd better get used to Brazilians, we, when speaking to people whom we are close to, use these terms that might sound as an insult for an American, but that's how we speak over here:

Quote:
Ei, seu safado! Quanto tempo, hein? Estava com saudades de você.

Aquele safado nunca mais me visitou.

Tu és um safado mesmo! hein, me deixastes esperando na fila sozinho.

However, in general terms, Safado means perverted, but don't get surprised at all if any friend of you who you are very close to calls you Safado, it's totally normal, we use insults as a friendly way to talk to people we are close to.

Yes Cookiezzz, I totally agree with You know who I am. Don't take this as an insult. It is just a "close friends" way of speaking.
